God Works in Amazing Ways

Just a quick story about something pretty amazing that happened to me last week. There´s a small restaurant that I like going to each week, usually during my 30 minute break from 5 hours of Spanish class. It´s a pupusa restuarant; pupusas are filled tortillas, and I always get mine filled with beans and cheese or just plain cheese. They´re delicious, cheap, and quick, which is why I go there all the time.

Last Friday I went there after school got out and before I was to go on my trip to the coast. There was a guy there that was Guatemalan (Guatemalteco en español) and he asked me where I´m from (typical question I always get asked). I said I was from Washington and made sure to clarify that I´m from the State, not our country´s capital. He then mentioned something that was really surprising to me...he said something to the effect of "Oh, I know one place in Washington. It´s called Walla Walla." I was flabbergasted that he knew of my small little town. I asked him, "How do you know about Walla Walla?" He then said something else that really blew me away..."Well, I know someone who goes to the Christian university there..." I realized that he was talking about "MY" school! How crazy! He knew someone who attends WWU! And then the next thing was the clincher for me...he said that his whole family (the family that runs one of my favorite restaurants in town) is Adventist! I was floored. HOW CRAZY! I told him I was Adventist, too, and pretty much his whole family came and greeted me with warm handshakes and smiling faces. I felt as thought I had just met family members!

This family goes to church in Xela (near my school) and I´m planning to go with them next week! I feel like I have so much in common with them and that we´ll be instant friends.

God really blew me away. I had asked Him that morning to not let me forget that He is involved in my life. I never thought He´d surprise me like this! God never ceases to amaze me. He really cares about each of us, even the little details....like finding Adventists in a pupusa restaurant...and ones that know about Walla Walla!

God is good. We don´t even know the half of it!
