Day 5, January 3

Each day just seems to be filled with amazing things! Today, I slept in again and woke up around 10:30ish. Had a good breakfast with Cristian—cereal, milk, juice (pineapple and orange), crackers, chocolate (similar to Nutella), cream cheese. Then we decided to cruise the town before lunch with the relatives. I have never been on a moped before (at least to my knowledge), and I was a bit afraid at first. But man, it was so much fun! I loved it! We went through some small-town parts of Sagunto and went shopping at Carrefour (Spain's equivalent to Walmart or Target). We looked at CDs and DVDs so I could see who was popular here in Spain. It's really interesting to see big-name shows from the U.S. here in Spain. Sometimes they just use our shows and change the language, or other times they do a remake of the show completely. They have a version of our show, "Friends," and I heard that we copied their original show, "Dancing with the Stars." We ended up buying some chocolates to give to Cristian's aunts who were going to be joining us for lunch. As we were leaving, we saw the Reyes (the three kings, or wisemen as we often call them). Here in Spain, Christmas lasts for long after December 25. Christmas is still going on here—and they celebrate the three kings, too. So, to be festive, I got a picture with the kings. It was like getting a photo with Santa, except three times better (although I didn't get to sit on any of their laps).

When we got home, I met the whole family. There are a lot of them! The table was set for about 15 people, so it was a big meal. We had pasta, drink, olives, pastries, etc. Good stuff. Then some of us played the age-old Playstation game Tekken (Lauren, take note :)). It was super fun. We also played a game much like Guitar Hero except it was for voice (I think there's a game like it at home, but I'm not sure of the name). It was hard singing the various songs in English and Spanish—especially Spanish when it is sung so fast!

After video gaming, four of us played some card games I'd never played before. One game you had to make sets and "escalaras" (sequential sets of cards) and get rid of the rest of your cards to win. I never won. Haha.

Then, Cristian and I went with mom and dad to see Avatar in 3D! This was my first time seeing the film. Everyone at home loves it, I know, so I was looking forward to seeing it. I had trouble staying awake (not because of the film—because I was really tired) and trying to understand them in Spanish was difficult. Overall, though, the movie was AMAZING! I loved it! So exciting and beautiful. I wish I could fly on dragons! Man, that'd be so great! The music in the movie was also really nice! I can't wait to see it in English now! Haha.

Now I'm back at the house and we're watching Pirates of the Carribean 3 on television (in Spanish). It's surprising how well they match up Spanish actors to do the voiceovers for the original actors! Whoever it is speaking for Johnny Depp is quite convincing! Barbosa, too!

I'm pretty tired (hence falling asleep in Avatar for a few minutes), so I'll sign off for now. More to come later! Kaity Beck joins me in Sagunto tomorrow! It'll be so good to see her again!
