Day 14, January 12

PARIS!

Today I woke up, finished packing, said goodbye to Scott, and headed to the Geneva train station. One of the theology students, Benjamin, was kind enough to take me to the station. I made it with about 20 minutes to spare, boarded the train, and found my seat. The train was comfortable and not too full. More people boarded the train as we stopped at different locations along the way. I listened to music on my iPod (mostly Sarah Brightman and Renee Fleming) and napped for a bit.

When I arrived in Paris, I bought tickets for the Metro and made my way to the station where I was to meet Emily. Just a few minutes after I arrived, Emily and her boyfriend Lukas were there to meet me. We walked a few blocks to the flat that their friend Manny and his mother live in. The place is really nice—small, but nice. The kitchen is so tiny, but it works great.

After relaxing for a bit, we three went shopping for food for dinner and then took a stroll down the
Avenue des Champs-Élysées and saw the Arc de Triomphe. We browsed the Luis Vuitton store to no avail of finding anything in our price range (a scarf alone was 90 Euros).

On our way back to the flat we stopped and bought some French bread, then went home and cooked a scrumptious dinner: farfalle pasta with pesto sauce, tomato-mozzarella hors d'oeuvres, and mandarin orange juice. Ah, it was better than a restaurant! And so nice to be in a home setting, as well.

Now we're taking a siesta before going out on the town later tonight.

I think I'll take a nap till then.
Au revoir!
