Ah, Paris. What a beautiful place to be. I've decided that I think it's one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to.
On the 15th, we slept in (it's a recurring theme) and then ate a big lunch. After that, we went out to see the Notre Dame. It was gorgeous, as ever. There was a huge Christmas tree out in the front of it (a little lopsided, we thought, but nice all the same). We went inside and walked around, looking at the various places to confess, pray, light candles, etc. I think it would be so amazing to call this place my home church. It is so beautiful inside—it feels like you've stepped back into the Middle Ages.
What was really special about the evening was that we were able to stay for Mass. They sang beautiful music (including a French version of a hymn we sing at home—sorry forgot the name), and the priest gave a tiny sermonette. The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes. It was SO neat to see and be a part of.
After that, we walked to the Louvre. We took about 3 hours to walk through it and see hundreds of pieces of art. After a while, you can't appreciate the art anymore and you have to leave. We did see many of the famous pieces, though, such as: the Mona Lisa (of course), the Coronation of Napoleon, Liberty Leading the People (the same picture on Coldplay's latest album "Viva la Vida"), a many, many others. It was a great night out. When we got home we were exhausted.
Today guess what we did. Slept in. Yay. Then we parted ways, I went to the Eiffel Tower, and Emily and Lukas went on a little duo time together (it's their 3 month anniversary together). I walked from the flat to the Eiffel and took tons of pictures of it from all angles and locations. It was so neat to be there and try to appreciate the grand thing. I love it.
When I got back, Lukas had left on the train for Germany (his home), and Emily and I ate supper. I bought some pasta and we had juice, gnocchi, and I had some dessert (Lu cookies). It was simple but nice. Now we're watching some cheesy movie on TV. About time for bed. Au revoir!
